Kitchen splashbacks are one design element often forgotten during a kitchen renovation. A splashback protects walls from spills and splatters and can also be a main feature in your kitchen design.
There are many options to consider when it comes to splashbacks, from stainless steel to tiles, but the one that will allow you to unleash your imagination is a printed kitchen glass splashback.
With a glass splashback, the design possibilities are endless. You can choose from a wide range of images, patterns, and even famous artwork to create a splashback that becomes a real conversation starter in your home. The world is truly your oyster when it comes to selecting a glass design.
Here are 7 examples of kitchen glass splashbacks we have printed and installed to help give you some inspiration.
1. Printed Tile Patterns
The only limitation for printed tile patterns on a splashback is your imagination. With standard tiles, you are limited to what is available from a tile supplier, which may not be exactly what you are looking for. A simple search for image patterns on Shutterstock will provide over 800,000 pattern options for you to choose from. Below is an example of printed tile patterns we have custom-printed for clients. Printed tile patterns are much easier to install than standard tiles, and you don’t have any issues with stained grout, as any spills will simply be wiped straight off.
2. Marble Designs
Marble is a popular finish in kitchen designs as it adds a touch of luxury and sophistication. However, using real marble for a kitchen splashback is cost-prohibitive and difficult to install. However, the same effect can be achieved with a marble image printed onto a glass splashback. Marble is a very popular choice for kitchens with white cupboards and benchtops, with our example below installed in a predominantly white kitchen.
It is also important to note that engineered stone is being phased out and cannot be used in Australia from 1 July 2024. So, if you want a marble look for your kitchen splashback, your only option after 1 July is to print the pattern onto a glass splashback. -
3. Custom Patterns
Unique patterns printed on a splashback add a unique, creative element to a kitchen design. The pattern below is a great example of how an accent colour from an appliance can be used to inspire a background colour for a custom pattern design. Patterns also allow you to match other features of your kitchen. Your only limit is your creativity!
4. Unique/Bespoke Art
Talk about unique! This artwork was created by New Zealand artist Lucy G, who specialises in creating bespoke images for kitchen splashbacks. For splashback inspiration, we recommend you check out her website here. This design adds so much personality to this small kitchen area, giving it a street café feel.
5. Cityscapes
Who doesn’t like a kitchen with a view? Not all of us can afford a kitchen view of New York City, but you can do it with a cityscape printed onto glass. High-resolution images like the one below are possible for any city, as long as you have a high-resolution image in a panorama format like the one below.
6. Famous Artwork
Banksy’s Girl with a Balloon is an iconic image originally featured around London as stencil murals. The image is immediately recognisable and has been used by the artist in social campaigns, and an original print was famously half-shredded during a Sotheby’s auction in 2018. Images like this (and all images created by Banksy) are available for personal use and can be printed on glass for your enjoyment. When printing artwork like this onto a glass splashback, you have to check the licencing usage arrangements for the artwork and ensure you can obtain a high-resolution image to print.
7. Abstract Designs
Abstract designs add depth and character and can be a visually striking addition to a kitchen renovation. You can incorporate bold and vibrant colours or more subtle and muted tones for a minimalist feel.
When it comes to kitchen splashback ideas printed onto glass, the options are endless. Whether you prefer a sleek and modern look or a more traditional and elegant design, there is a splashback option to suit every style and taste. Experiment with different materials, colours, and patterns to find the perfect splashback design that complements your modern kitchen and reflects your personal style.
